SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Applied Micro Circuits Corporation (NASDAQ: AMCC), a global leader in embedded Power Architecture(TM) processing, optical transport and storage solutions, today announced a 10GbE PHY that is pin-to-pin compatible with the recently announced PEMAQUID S19258. The S19263 is a XAUI to XFI 10G LAN/WAN PHY industrial temperature device for 10GbE, 10G Fibre Channel, and WIS (OC-192/STM-64) network applications.

The S19263 represents AMCC's second device in its MEtrON (Metro Ethernet Optical Networks) product family. It is a highly integrated XAUI to XFI physical layer integrated circuit for Ethernet and Fibre Channel LAN and WAN applications based on SFP+ or XFP optical modules.

The S19253 complements AMCC's QT2025 LAN/WAN PHY with EDC by providing a solution that supports operation in a -40 degrees C to +85 degrees C industrial temperature environment, critical for Metro-Ethernet and Carrier Ethernet applications. It is also fully compliant to IEEE(R) 802.3-205 and XFP4.5 standards.

"Unlike climate controlled locations such as customer premises and data centers, industrial-grade components designed for LAN and WAN applications must meet telco-grade standards in order to ensure high reliability in extreme temperature environments," said Michael Howard, Principal Analyst and Co-Founder at Infonetics Research. "The AMCC design team ensured that the S19263 meets these industrial temperature requirements, while making the device pin-compatible with the recently announced PEMAQUID S19258 framer/mapper/PHY."
