EANTC's Independent Test of Cisco's CloudVerse Architecture

Groundbreaking validation of Cisco's complete infrastructure, unified data center platform and cloud applications

Welcome to Light Reading's presentation of the first ever public, end-to-end test of Cisco CloudVerse architecture. As you might imagine, a sprawling test of everything from infrastructure to applications has a lot of moving parts. So please find below all the test results, published in four parts and preceded by a prologue that puts the whole thing in context:

Test Prologue
Part 1: Unified Data Center
Part 2: Cloud Intelligent Networks
Part 3: Cloud Applications & Services
Part 4: Long-haul Optical Transport

When you click on each of the vertical bars below, you'll see the sections within each of the four parts of test results, along with supporting videos and other material. If you see a section that doesn't have content, or has grayed-out text, that means we're still working on that one and will have it ready soon, so check back often. Enjoy!

Glad to see cisco has made great effort in 100 G transport. The main problem of 100 G application is subject to transponder price and power consumption now. But for superchannel,  it is really a long way to be matured.

11. Trying to understand what Cisco has done here. Am I right that it is using 16-QAM (4 bits per symbol) but no polarisation multiplexing? So is a 100Gbps still four channels at 28 Gbaud? And this 1Tbit (10x100G) seems to fit in 150GHz. This is far closer than I would expect. 16-QAM has less reach than DP-QPSK (I'm assuming 700km). But if the channels are so closely spaced, what is the reach then? Super-channels look very interesting but the number of parameters system vendors have to play with are greater. Comparing vendors like-for-like will be an interesting exercise.

While this is clearly just a lab test, it does show that Cisco is delivering in the optical space and is fairly serious now.   Especially to be tested this early in the game by EANTC who most folks take pretty seriously.  We'll look forward to the production product; hopefully sooner than later!

Is this a wrong url or did I get rickrolled into the cloud stuff using 100G as bait?
