Nashua, N.H. -- Plexxi a pioneer of converged networking and application-defined data center infrastructure, announced today that Perseus, the world's leading provider of managed services for high-precision, high speed connectivity, has chosen Plexxi to deploy a next-generation network system to expand its service operations into 11 new major Asian markets and offer new services between 29 sites across the globe. The expansion allows Perseus to supply low latency point-to-point and multipoint Ethernet services as well as global market data distribution in all of the world's key emerging markets and financial liquidity centers.

Before working with Plexxi, Perseus had built a traditional network to transport applications across the globe for its managed services customers but traditional approaches did not scale to meet their business model and goals. Perseus was looking to improve the network's geographic scale, simplicity, agility and service offering capabilities. As part of this improvement, Perseus explored ways to reduce the network's operational overhead, intensive manual labor and complexity, while at the same time increasing and improving service delivery options for its customers.

Based on these needs, Perseus chose Plexxi's next generation networking and software toolsets including software-defined switches (Plexxi Switch); creating a resilient and dynamic intercontinental backbone. Plexxi Control software is providing centralized management, control and visualization of the physical and logical network, and application orchestration through Plexxi Connect. Plexxi Connect enables orchestration between the network infrastructure and the applications customer need to run their business.

"As a global managed service provider, our customers expect us to push the boundaries of technology innovation to continually improve the resiliency and agility that they depend on," said Andrew Kusminsky, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Strategy Officer at Perseus. "In Plexxi, we found a solution that helped us to rapidly expand globally while allowing us to scale for future growth and quickly pivot based on our customers' needs. We've just built the world's largest SDN-based on-demand services network that will allow us to quickly offer new products and services while enabling new partnerships at a rapid pace."

"We are excited to partner with Perseus to deploy what we believe to be the world's biggest (non-captive) SDN network of over 75,000 miles," said Rich Napolitano, CEO of Plexxi. "Perseus' global expansion demanded a next-generation network that was simple, scalable and capable of adjusting to its clients' needs. Using Plexxi's technology, Perseus was able to not only rapidly expand and diversify its offerings but also develop a system that was centralized, dynamic and agile."

Plexxi's converged network infrastructure and single switch platform enabled Perseus to add to its robust suite of global connectivity and managed services products, offering global multipoint Ethernet to clients. The Perseus multipoint Ethernet offering allows enterprises of any size to easily connect multiple remote locations in a single, global switched network. Reliable and seamless delivery of data across the enterprise is critical for today's enterprise applications, and leveraging Plexxi's next generation technology, Perseus has increased its business agility, brought new multipoint service products to market, improved customer experience (responding to change requests in minutes vs. weeks), and deployed to new markets in record time.
