Cape Town, South Africa – Celeno Communications, a leading provider of high-performance Wi-Fi chips and software for demanding home networking applications, today announced that Altech UEC, a leading developer of digital technology for the converged African broadcast and broadband Industries, will deliver a range of high-end 802.11ac wireless capabilities to HD gateways as well as satellite, cable and IP set-top boxes.

Celeno’s video-grade Wi-Fi chips will power Altech’s gateways and set-top boxes, enabling Altech to offer whole-home Wi-Fi networking that delivers reliable throughput and the high quality of service (QoS) required for data and HD video distribution across the home to multiple portable devices.

According to the latest Cisco VNI Forecast 2015, South African connectivity is expected to soar with over 198.9 million networked devices, 2.7 fold growth in fixed broadband speed and IP video accounting for 78% of all IP traffic by 2019.

Celeno will be demonstrating its Wi-Fi capabilities at Africacom, taking place 17-19 November, 2015 in Cape Town, together with Altech.
