COLOGNE, Germany -- Huawei, TDC (Denmark), and Cable Euro together announced the successful launch of the first DOCSIS 3.1 project in Europe today at ANGA COM 2016 (biggest exhibition and congress for broadband, cable, and satellite in Europe). Carsten Bryder (CTO of TDC Denmark), Matthias Kurth (president of Cable Euro), and Jeff Wang (president of Huawei Access Network Product Line) co-led the celebration ceremony. TDC decided on Huawei distributed-converged cable access platform (D-CCAP) solution, which employs DOCSIS 3.1 technologies to provide Gigabit services for users.

The project recently kicked off at Lejre, Denmark. The first 900 homes have received the upgrade of its cable network ready to 1 Gbit/s. TDC plans to complete the DOCSIS 3.1 transformation of the entire network by the end of 2017. By then, TDC's network will be one of the largest DOCSIS 3.1 networks in Europe. This project will consolidate TDC as the leader in the Danish broadband market.

The Giga Speed project adopts Huawei D-CCAP solution. The solution supports the DOCSIS 3.1 bandwidth capabilities, which are the highest in the industry. The maximum downstream bandwidth can reach 10 Gbit/s, satisfying the bandwidth demands in the upcoming 5–10 years. The D-CCAP solution provides a unified access platform, with which TDC can have FTTH and coaxial cable networks converge at the access and metro layers to minimize network rollout and maintenance costs. The solution can also provide digitalized video services, such as broadcasting video, video on demand (VOD), 4K UHD video.
