Chromecast: Playing Hard to Get

Many of you want to try Google's new Chromecast streaming TV device but are finding it hard to get your hands on the dongle.

Seventy-three of the 352 respondents to our Chromecast survey said that you want a Chromecast dongle but are finding that they are sold out everywhere. Sixty-two of you ordered one as soon as you heard of it.

A sizable number of readers are hoping the advent of Google (Nasdaq: GOOG)'s Chromecast and cheaper TV streaming will change the model for cable operators over time. Sixty-nine respondents hope cable operators will start to offer an "a la carte" choice of TV channels, rather than forcing subscribers buy a massive package of channels they don't actually watch.

Fifty-eight of you say that Chromecast will change nothing, and that you'll be hanging on to your cable package. Only 40 readers said live access to sports coverage is keeping them on cable.
