It includes full optimization for all four leading adaptive bitrate streaming protocols, including the newly added MPEG Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP (DASH); Adobe Flash Dynamic Streaming (FDS); Apple HTTP Live Streaming (HLS); and Microsoft Smooth Streaming. Squeeze Server automatically transcodes individual video files into chunked segments categorized by bitrate, organizes the segments into folders and delivers them to every specified destination for playback.

The company has added this capability to its FSP 150 family. The ITU-T standard, also known as G.8032v2, provides sub-50ms protection and recovery switching, ensuring high reliability for ring-based Carrier Ethernet infrastructures. Fully configured to support IEEE Connectivity Fault Management (802.1ag), the FSP 150 family now features robust fast failure detection, protection and advanced multivendor interoperability, the company says.

This is an enhancement to the DTN-X platform to enable software activation of 100G bandwidth increments. Activation is a one-click process, and without the typical long wait times associated with provisioning equipment, as well as engineering and activating services, according to the company. The Instant Bandwidth solution is a combination of new hardware, software and operational innovation -- the hardware includes new line cards supporting 500G long-haul super-channels with 100G activated initially.

It simultaneously powers the processor (the core at up to 5A plus other processor supplies), external memories, wireless communications (WLAN and Bluetooth), GPS and FM receivers, and data modems. The DC/DC converters can be paralleled to provide 3 and 5A rails, so that the PMIC is scalable and adaptable for different system requirements in smartphones, tablets and embedded applications. It comes in an 8mm-by-8mm BGA package that facilitates simple routing, allowing low-cost, two-layer PCBs to be used for some designs.

It supports data rates up to 492kbit/s, provides Wi-Fi connection up to 45ms outdoors, 10/100Mbit/s LAN ports, RJ11 voice/fax and handset, voice/data connectivity, and integrated power management with status indicators and fan-forced cooling. The RapidSat700 contains an inbuilt lithium-battery backup of 538Wh, delivering 24 hours of nonstop transmit time. There is also an integral EXPLORER 700 BGAN terminal.

This is an LTE module for European and North American OEM automotive and aftermarket segments. The new 920 form factor measures 34 by 40 by 2.8mm on a 198-pad LGA automotive-grade package. The module delivers 100Mbit/s downstream and 50Mbit/s upstream data rates on LTE networks and is fully fallback compatible with DC-HSPA+, delivering up to 42/5.76Mbit/s down/up where available. The company says that quad-band GSM/GPRS and EDGE performance ensure the module connects even in remote areas devoid of 3G or 4G coverage, and that the high-performance multiconstellation GPS plus GLONASS receiver provides superior navigation coverage even in harsh environments and challenging urban canyons with fast and accurate position fixes, making it suited for full-featured integrated navigation systems and location-based services delivered through the car's infotainment system.

Designed as a companion device to the StrataXGS Trident Switch Series, the highly integrated BCM84848 PHY allows OEMs to implement top-of-rack switches with 48 ports of 10GBASE-T and four 40 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) QSFP uplinks while maintaining minimal depth of the platform, thus avoiding the dual row layout required with larger PHY packages. The package has a footprint of 23 x 23mm.

For data centers and to support new SDN applications, these modules help to scale the network for a variety of highly virtualized multitenant cloud data centers, Internet Exchange Points (IXPs) and data center core deployments. The new 4-port 100GbE and 12-port 40GbE modules offer nonblocking, wire-speed performance of Layer 2/3 services, Layer 2/3 ACLs and flow flexibility with support for 100G-SR (100m) and 100G-OR (10km) optics, a boost in scale of tables supported via an upgraded TCAM, and fault tolerance and redundancy with N+1 power support.

These include a 3-port DS3 interface module and software enhancements. The 3-port DS3 linecard supports Generic Framing Procedure (GFP) and Virtual Concatenation (VCAT) bonding using Link Capacity Adjustment Scheme (LCAS). The 3xDS3 module is supported by Overture's Release 12.1, which introduces additional performance enhancements and upgrades, including: (a) Dynamic p-bit remarking -- allows traffic that exceeds the committed information rate (excess information rate or EIR) to be marked with a priority bit valued for special handling by upstream networks; (b) Zero-touch provisioning -- allows the Overture 1400 to be installed at the customer site and automatically configured remotely with no local on-site intervention; (c) Y.1731 synthetic frame loss (ETH-SLM) -- provides accurate one-way measurements of frame loss by injecting specialized test traffic alongside live user traffic; (d) MLPPP support on the existing 8-port T1/E1 interface module -- provides an alternative industry-standard encapsulation and bonding technique for use with edge routers and aggregation switches; previously, the module supported only GFP encapsulation with PDH-VCAT bonding.

The Ethernet-demarcation SFP form-factor solution plugs into the SFP cage of a manufacturer's host unit, so that, when an SFP device is inserted into the sleeve, it is transformed into a carrier-Ethernet demarcation and SLA verification device for remote service monitoring and fault isolation. Its compact size makes the MiNID suitable for small-cell backhaul applications, as well as virtual private networks and carrier-wholesale provider network termination. According to the company, the solution works with any SFP unit, made by any manufacturer. The same MiNID can be used with various fiber types (single mode, multimode, and also electrical SFPs) and up to distances of 10/40/80km, depending on the SFP. Also, it fits SFPs already installed in existing equipment.

The web-designed infrastructure allows O&M engineers to easily and conveniently manage networks through a Web browser, the company says.

According to the company, the approach extends traditional network and operational approaches by directly linking customer and revenue insights to improving network performance.

SUR 9.0
A version of the subscriber data management solution for 3G and 4G mobile networks, its features and capabilities include: highly-distributed processes design; optimum in-memory and SSD storage and compression techniques; handling more than 80,000 read operations per second and 25,000 write operations per second; and reduced hardware footprint of just two nodes running on standard Linux-based hardware.

Cascade 10.0 release
This update to the application-aware network performance management (NPM) solution to handles virtualized desktop infrastructure (VDI), server virtualization, and fully virtualized data centers using VXLAN software-defined networks (SDNs). According to the company, Cascade 10.0 provides detailed monitoring into the performance of virtualized environments, including the most popular VDI protocols, and is a NPM solution to provide visibility for VMware View (PCoIP protocol) for actions such as screen refresh, print, type etc. Also supported is monitoring of the Common Internet File Systems (CIFS) protocol to ensure the performance of file sharing and collaboration applications such as Microsoft SharePoint. Cascade 10.0 also provides performance monitoring of VXLAN SDNs by providing visibility into the UDP-encapsulated traffic and virtual tunnel endpoints. This provides a detailed look into the routing and transit links and interconnect relationships that affect operational expenses on fixed and mobile networks. It highlights high-demand traffic using high-cost transit links, allowing communication service providers to reroute traffic toward more appropriate routes such as private peering, the company says. Identifying the most efficient links for high-demand traffic creates immediate cost savings and helps ensure a consistent quality of experience for subscribers. Operators can also measure the quality of links based on their ability to carry rich media, and consequently can make routing decisions based on quality.

This provides a unified console from which service providers can manage all their carrier-Ethernet equipment, regardless of vendor. The addition of TD-LTE and TD-SCDMA/HSPA options extends the signaling tester's capability to test UE functions, including voice calls, browsing, streaming, SMS, and MMS, to these new formats. They enable the tester to simulate multiple types of calls, including voice, data, and video, with data rates up to 2.8Mbit/s in the downlink. Likewise, the new TD-LTE option enables data calls with flexible uplink/downlink configurations, with data rates up to 87Mbit/s using Configuration 5. This added coverage complements the MD8475A's existing capability for FDD LTE, GSM/(E)-GPRS, and other standards.

MS269xA/MS2830A signal analyzers and MG3710A/MG3700A vector signal generators
The company has added three software packages supporting LTE-Advanced and five packages supporting IEEE802.11ac. The MX269020A-001 software package, developed for the MS269xA series and MS2830A, can be used to evaluate the characteristics of components and devices used for LTE-Advanced FDD base stations. According to the company, it simplifies modulation analysis of the multiple carrier waves comprising LTE-Advanced signals by providing a single-measurement operation. The MX269908A-001 waveform generation package provides a straightforward graphical interface (GUI) for generating LTE-Advanced signal waveform patterns. The MX269028A-002/001 software package that allows developers and manufacturers to use the MS269xA/MS2830A to evaluate signal characteristics of WLAN IEEE802.11ac devices. The MS269xA series can measure signal bandwidths up to 160MHz in the IEEE802.11ac signal bandwidth specification, while the lower-cost MS2830A can measure signal bandwidths up to 80MHz.

Rapid Test Designer (RTD)/MD8430A LTE Network Simulator toolset
The addition of Rich Communications Services (RCS) functional test capabilities include simulation of network elements and protocols required for testing Enhanced Phonebook and Enhanced Messaging functionality, including presence, capability discovery and chat, as well as Supplementary Services, such as call waiting, call forwarding, and identification presentation/restriction. These additions build on the existing RTD VoLTE-IMS Solution for audio and video calls with Mean Opinion Scoring (MOS) and SMS/IMS, furthering the toolset for IMS client, and device verification and performance testing.

Presented as the world's first 100G network monitoring system, this is a 100 Gigabit Ethernet (100G)-capable network-visibility headend that gives organizations the network access to monitor, analyze, protect and troubleshoot 100G network segments. The system can be configured to support LAN or WAN protocols, making it practical for deployment in both the data center and WAN environments, and enables organizations to continue using their existing 10G monitoring and security tools, which helps ease the transition from 10G to 100G, according to the company. The system provides support for two 100G or 40G monitoring ports, that are configured to capture traffic from both sides of a bidirectional link, in two rack-units. Traffic from each monitoring port is distributed in a flow-safe way across 12 ports of 10G, enabling the system to scale to support full-linerate 100G. The load-balancing algorithm used enables captured traffic to be directed to specific egress ports by flow and guarantees accuracy at 100G.

FTB/IQS-85100G Packet Blazer 40G/100G Multiservice Test Modules
These offer enhancements to CFP testing capabilities. The company says that the new CFP health check offers up-to-date, advanced and simple field commissioning and troubleshooting testing capabilities for individual optical channels supported on different types of 40G/100G CFPs. These include laser control, frequency, color-coded power measurements and CFP tracking information to address customers' concerns about CFP insertion and extraction. In addition, the FTB/IQS-85100G Packet Blazer modules support the CFP advanced-testing capabilities needed for lab qualification and to address interoperability issues. These capabilities include the newly introduced 40G/100G automated stress-testing capabilities with clear pass/fail verdicts, per-lane bit error rate (BER), signal conditioning, skew measurements and full management data input/output (MDIO) read/write access.

The ODU 600T, together with the new Outdoor Branching Unit (OBU), allows for up to eight parallel radio channels on a single microwave antenna, creating aggregate link capacities in excess of 3.5Gbit/s. According to the company, the combined system of ODU 600T and OBU is significantly smaller and lighter than competing solutions, enabling it to be lifted and installed at high tower elevations more easily, while also decreasing tower space and loading requirements. The ODU 600T is available in the 6, 7, 8 and 11GHz frequency bands and is fully compatible with the Eclipse Packet Node platform, which supports advanced carrier Ethernet functionality, including multichannel radio-link bonding and ITU-T G.8032 Ethernet Ring Protection (ERP).

This offers a blade-server-like design for seamless module assembly for building mobile-broadband cell sites. The modules can be assembled into flexible combinations of different bands, modes and sectors. This, according to the company, saves site space and reduces site rental costs to meet operator demands for network capacity for the different stages of a network's development. Each Blade RRU module is 12L / 14kg and can be installed in minutes. Each module can transmit up to 2 x 60W, and complies with 3GPP MSR standards, and supports mode migration via software configurations and also optimizing configurations for coverage, capacity, multiple network standards, and frequency resources.

This addition of LTE to the E-RAN system is presented as forming the first true multimode access system with 3G, LTE/4G and dual-band Wi-Fi for reliable mobile services indoors for enterprise customers of any size. The E-RAN system consists of a Services Node (SCSN) that can control more than 100 self-organizing and multi-access 3G, Wi-Fi and LTE/4G small cells that can be installed in days by using an enterprise-Ethernet LAN. One E-RAN delivers high capacity and coverage to more than 10,000 connected smartphones and tablets, with only one connection to the mobile operator’s core network. The company says that the scalable system architecture simplifies deployment and overall network configuration for mobile operators as they address demand for reliable mobile services from enterprise and large-venue customers. The portfolio of highly integrated Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) capable enterprise small cells with transmit power options of 100 - 250mW now comprises: (a) SCRN-200 -- 16/32 channels 3G Small Cell; (b) SCRN-300 -- 16/32 3G channels and dual-radio Wi-Fi Small Cell; (c) SCRN-210 -- 64 4G/LTE channels with 2x2 MIMO Small Cell.

Energy Saving Solution
Presented as technologies to reduce power consumption in LTE base stations, it includes the industry's first integrated system for automatic/dynamic PA bias voltage control and intelligent OFDM signaling shutdown without affecting performance, the company says. According to the company, test results, show that the solution can generate energy savings of as much as 32 percent on a single site. Annual reduction of as much as 5,200kwh can be achieved on a typical 1,500W base station. For a network comprising 1,000 base stations, the annual reduction would amount to 5.2 million kwh, representing 4500t of carbon-dioxide emission. When combined with the deployment of renewable energy sources such as solar energy, wind energy or bio-energy, energy savings of more than 50 percent for the entire network can be achieved.
