Sorry for all the suspense, but it appears that no cable modems or cable modem termination systems (CMTSs), for that matter, came away with the coveted Docsis 3.0 stamp following Certification Wave 57 at CableLabs .

That doesn’t come as much of a shock, of course, considering that no products were submitted in the wave for Docsis 3.0 testing. (See Docsis 3.0 Testing Skips a Beat .)

But it appears that plenty of gear is already in for Wave 58, which got underway in late February. SMC Networks Inc. has already confirmed that it has two modems in for Docsis 3.0 testing. (See New SMC Gear Is Docsis 3.0 Ready.) It's believed that models from Arris Group Inc. (Nasdaq: ARRS), Cisco Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: CSCO), and Motorola Inc. (NYSE: MOT)-- all based on Texas Instruments Inc. (NYSE: TXN) silicon -- are in there, too.

Still, Wave 57 wasn't completely empty. According to the latest posting (PDF) from CableLabs, Docsis 2.0 certification was awarded to a Thomson S.A. (NYSE: TMS; Euronext Paris: 18453) modem, and two embedded multimedia terminal adapters, one from Thomson and another from Ambit Broadband , came away with approval for PacketCable 1.5.
