SAN DIEGO -- Time Warner Cable Internet customers in San Diego can now stay connected away from home thanks to the company’s rapidly expanding WiFi network. Recently launched in the San Diego area, TWC WiFi already has more than 300 hotspots locally, with plans to add hundreds of additional hotspots by the end of 2014.

Time Warner Cable launched its Southern California WiFi Network in Los Angeles in 2011 and has expanded to the Coachella Valley and San Diego over the last year, reaching more than 17,000 hotspots throughout the region.

While the network is expected to grow throughout Time Warner Cable’s San Diego footprint, initial deployment is focused on heavily populated areas in Carlsbad, Coronado, Del Mar, La Jolla, Mission Beach and Pacific Beach.

Finding and connecting to a TWC WiFi Hotspot is easier than ever using the free TWC WiFi Finder app available in Google Play and the Apple App Store. TWC customers sign in using the same credentials they use to manage their online Time Warner Cable account.

Nearly all of the hotspots also can be accessed on TWC’s recently launched secure WiFi network, TWCWiFi-Passpoint, which uses powerful encryption technology to provide maximum security. After connecting to TWCWiFi-Passpoint the first time, customers will seamlessly connect to the secure network whenever in broadcast range. Both networks are available at no cost to Time Warner Cable customers with Standard Internet or above, as well as Business Class Internet customers and on a pay-as-you-go basis to non-subscribers.
