LAS VEGAS -- CES 2015 -- Entropic (Nasdaq:ENTR), a world leader in semiconductor solutions for the connected home, today announced its Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA(R)) technology is featured in the Echo whole house Wi-Fi solution being deployed by Bright House Networks. The Echo Access Points, supplied by Actiontec Electronics, will be shown at the 2015 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, from January 6-9, 2015.

Echo, powered by Entropic's MoCA silicon, uses existing in-home coax wiring as a network backbone to eliminate Wi-Fi dead zones and provide more consistent bandwidth for Ultra High-Definition (HD) media, low latency online and cloud gaming, over-the-top (OTT) / Internet content and wireless entertainment anywhere in the home.

As consumers demand higher broadband throughput and connect more and more devices, they have come to expect those increased speeds anywhere in the home. A single Wi-Fi hotspot at the gateway does not provide adequate whole home coverage to meet the increasing demands of the consumer. The solution is to extend coverage by adding Wi-Fi access points that, with MoCA, use the in-home coax as a wired network backbone. Echo Access Points can be added anywhere there is a cable outlet in the home to create a Wi-Fi blanket throughout the house.
