Cable Center Counts on Students

May 28, 2013 |
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Cable Center will give nine students at Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) the opportunity to experience this year’s Cable Hall of Fame Celebration first-hand as student ambassadors. The students will greet, direct and check-in guests, as well as answer questions and assist with event set-up, and will also have the chance to attend The Cable Show the next day. The Cable Center hosts the 16th annual Cable Hall of Fame Celebration on Monday, June 10, 2013 at The Ronald Reagan Building in Washington, DC, in conjunction with The Cable Show 2013.

“The Cable Center welcomes these NOVA students to the Cable Hall of Fame celebration, and is thrilled they will be on hand to help ensure the event runs smoothly,” said Jana Henthorn, senior vice president of academic and industry outreach for The Cable Center. “As we gather with leaders from throughout the cable industry to recognize this year’s Cable Hall of Fame honorees, this is a tremendous opportunity for the students to meet, listen, learn and network with top executives.”

The Cable Center began its relationship with Northern Virginia Community College in 2008, when it brought Brian Lamb, Executive Chairman of C-SPAN, 2000 Cable Hall of Fame inductee, and the 2013 recipient of the Bresnan Ethics in Business Award, to the college for a Cable Mavericks lecture. Lamb was eager to share his experiences and expertise with community college students, and NOVA welcomed him with red carpet treatment. The partnership between The Cable Center and NOVA has continued to grow, and the college also provided student ambassadors to assist at The Cable Center’s Masters Forum event in New York the past two years.
