PARIS -- Bolt Fiber Optic Services, the fiber-to-the-home subsidiary of Northeast Oklahoma Electric Cooperative has selected Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) to supply an end-to-end triple-play solution for delivering up to 1 gigabit-per-second (Gbps) broadband connectivity as well as voice over third-party VoIP service and television services to communities in rural northeastern Oklahoma.

Powered by Alcatel-Lucent’s gigabit passive optical network (GPON) technology, Bolt Fiber Optic Services’ new network will be around 100 times faster than the average connection speed in the United States. Bolt’s 30,000 cooperative members will thus join an elite group of communities around the world with gigabit ultra-broadband access.

Bolt’s goal is to create an infrastructure that will support improved education, economic development, telemedicine opportunities and faster business services in order to improve the quality of life as well as attract and keep jobs in their community. Alcatel-Lucent’s triple-play solution will also enable Bolt to offer members of the cooperative linear television, video on demand and pay-per-view TV services.

A CSP's digital transformation involves so much more than technology. Crucial – and often most challenging – is the cultural transformation that goes along with it. As Sigma's Chief Technology Officer, Catherine Michel has extensive experience with technology as she leads the company's entire product portfolio and strategy. But she's also no stranger to merging technology and culture, having taken a company — Tribold — from inception to acquisition (by Sigma in 2013), and she continues to advise service providers on how to drive their own transformations. This impressive female leader and vocal advocate for other women in the industry will join Women in Comms for a live radio show to discuss all things digital transformation, including the cultural transformation that goes along with it.
