Corecess announced next generation DWDM PON platform that delivers up to 16 Gigabit Ethernet and/or GEPON over a pair of feeder fibers

SEOUL -- Corecess Inc., a pioneer and major provider of IP broadband access solutions for the advanced service market, today announced next generation Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) Passive Optical Network (PON) platform that delivers up to 16 Gigabit Ethernet and/or Gigabit Ethernet PON (GEPON) over a pair of feeder fibers.

Built on company’s market proven “S5” optical access platform, where included are advanced optical component and transmission technologies from Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), this gigabit DWDM-PON improves service provider’s bandwidth offering in a scalable and cost effective way.

This new platform provides colorless operation by employing Reflective Semiconductor Optical Amplifier (RSOA) technology from ETRI, which is implemented in SFP and GBIC form factors. These plug-n-play optical transceivers provide smooth migration from legacy optical access platform, and carry 1.25Gbps data streams, which are muxed in the off-the-shelf unit. In addition, highly modular architecture and protocol transparency of WDM favors the new platform as a gradual approach for service provider to prepare future service demands for bandwidth and service.

He also noted that scalability and versatility in gigabit provisioning makes this platform fit for not only optical access node but back-haul aggregation node for broadband.
