MW13: What CIOs Really Want

NICE, France -- Management World 2013 -- With communications service providers of all types constantly searching for new revenue-generating services, people sit up and take notice when a senior carrier executive addresses a room full of peers and says "I know which new service CIOs really want today."

That executive was Peter Agnew, senior manager of Innovation at pan-European service provider Colt Technology Services Group Ltd., talking during his presentation on the development of software-as-a-service (SaaS) portfolios.

"When we talk to [corporate] CIOs, the service they all want is an enterprise version of Dropbox," said Agnew, who added later that this is a particular requirement within companies with strict compliance rules. "Protecting corporate data is a very important issue," he noted.

So is Colt doing anything about it? Agnew says a prototype has been developed and used within Colt and is now being championed as an application that could go to commercial development.
