MW13: QUICK – FREE STUFF!!

May 14, 2013 | Ray Le Maistre |

NICE, France -- Management World 2013 -- Have you ever seen a massive queue for a Microsoft Corp. Surface RT tablet?

Then feast your eyes on the picture below, taken Tuesday at 1 p.m. local time when Microsoft began its massive tablet giveaway to every attendee at the Management World show here on the south coast of France.

queue
As MW13 attendees queue to pick up their free tablets, at least three of them are getting their pockets picked…

The reaction so far has been very positive -- there are lots of smiling faces as people open boxes and find there really is a free tablet inside the massive box. And there's a team of Microsoft folk on hand to help show attendees get up and running.

Tomorrow will be the big test, though. Will people be using the devices around the show? Or will they have been discarded in the bars of Nice old town Tuesday evening? Whatever the outcome, Microsoft just added about 3,000 Service Provider Information Technology (SPIT) people to its Surface RT user base…
