3:50 PM -- Docsis Certification Wave 68 turned out to be a light one at CableLabs, with Motorola Inc. the only vendor coming through with newly stamped gear. (Moto may have been the only vendor in the wave. CableLabs stopped listing who was in for testing before Cert Waves got underway many moons ago.)

According to the latest data from the Louisville, Colo.-based R&D house, CableLabs granted Docsis 2.0 certification to a standalone Moto modem called the SBG941, and Docsis 2.0 and PacketCable 1.5 certification to an embedded multimedia terminal adapter (EMTA, or voice modem) to the SBV5122.

The sole new product to get the coveted Docsis 3.0 stamp in the wave was the SBV6120, an EMTA that, we're told, has been deployed by some MSOs in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region. According to Moto documents, it adheres to the minimum channel bonding configuration (four downstream and four upstream channels) required by the D3 specs.

Still, no new news on the cable modem termination system (CMTS) front. Casa Systems Inc. remains the only supplier to win qualification for network devices that can handle upstream channel bonding. However, Japan Cablenet Ltd. has launched upstream channel bonding using a CMTS from Arris Group Inc.. (See Japan Cablenet Swims Upstream .)
