4:00 PM The tablet computing market is so desperate to stand out against the iPad that it's taken to killing us with clutter and insulting early adopters of the technology
I understand the point of marketing. I found obnoxious the Apple "I'm a PC" ads. trying to depict Apple users as "cool" guys.
But on the other hand, marketing is marketing. As they say, as long as you remember their product (and seemed like you did) it's good advertisement! I'm not in marketing for sure and overall, I like to pick the stuff I need, not what the companies tell me I need.
EDIT: In addition to that. Let's face it that it's really hard to make a product similar to an Apple without getting sued these days.
Our Director of Product Management has a keyboard that doubles as a cover for his iPad. You might want to look at that.
The one thing I see is these tablets might become the device that puts the whole "rogue device" nonsense over the edge for IT folks. Sure you can lock that Windows PC down...sure you can. I will take "How many root kits does the average PC have on it for $200 Alex."
I didn't realize how much I needed an iPad until I actually got one for the hell of it to see what being an Apple lemming felt like. It felt good. It's a horrible working tool (for me, anyway..i can't type worth a damn on it), but it's an amazing entertainment device. JB
Yes. And then they used one and now they won't put it down.
I think it also shows that the computer industry doesn't seem to understand why the iPad works. It's simple. It's clean. It looks nice. It displays stuff in an attractive way.
The response has been to beat us over the head with speeds, feeds, multi-core, hyper-threaded, etc., etc. Look, it's a tablet. Not a goddam race car. Not a lifestyle. Not a religion. Not a fad.
