The Bauminator
8:35 AM -- The "retirement" of former Comcast Corp. (Nasdaq: CMCSA, CMCSK) engineering exec Steve Craddock just didn't take. About a year after Craddock decided to hang them up, or at least get out of the full-time cable grind and live the board member life, it appears that he's now back in it, this time as EVP and CTO of PCT International Inc. , a Tempe, Ariz.-based maker of "last mile" gear, including transmission and connectivity products for the cable, satellite, and structured wiring markets. (See Craddock Named PCT CTO.) At PCT, Craddock will head up the company's technical vision and spur development of its more advanced product lines, including items that carry the Channel Master brand. Craddock's last post at Comcast was senior VP of technology, in the office of the CTO. [Ed. note: No, we're pretty sure Craddock had his own office in Philly, too. At least that's the assumption we're going with.] At Comcast, Craddock oversaw the MSO's involvement with high-level, advanced product initiatives, including those tied to Docsis and PacketCable. He also represented Comcast on its Docsis and PacketCable development team and chaired the PacketCable Certification Board and the PacketCable Business Committee. Before becoming a cable guy, Craddock was a bellhead, serving about two decades with Bell Atlantic and AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T). At Bell Atlantic, he was involved with that company's DSL, fiber-to-the-home, and interactive video initiatives. His new role on the widget side of the biz gets going immediately, so look for him to be waving the PCT flag in Denver this week at the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo. — Jeff Baumgartner, Site Editor, Cable Digital News
