NOON -- Infinera Corp. (Nasdaq: INFN ) is finally ready with that metro product, according to a research note from George Notter at Jefferies & Company Inc. this morning.
He says it's called the ATN (Access Transport Node) and that it's shipping into three customer trials.
Infinera is essentially a one-product company targeting long-haul DWDM, so a metro box would be a move so obvious that even journalists have been asking Infinera about it for a couple of years. Last summer, Infinera acknowledged that it's working on such a beast. (See Infinera Surprises, Targets Metro Access , Metro Move for Infinera? , and Infinera Numbers .)
Notter thinks a metro product would double Infinera's addressable market. The news isn't giving Infinera's stock a kick, though. On a down day for the market, Infinera is down, too, off 29 cents (3.4%) at $8.31.
By the way, Infinera had mentioned winning a submarine network job recently. Notter says it's with Telefónica SA (NYSE: TEF ), and it's just a single deal, not a "larger strategic vendor relationship."
