Deals are made far in advance.  T-Mobile isn't going to stop any of the current and future plans just because of the AT&T Merger.  It isn't even approved yet and it would be foolish of T-Mobile to stop any plans.  The same for Nokia, while they announced WP7, they also announced that most likely, no WP7 device this year and that they expect to sell additional Symbian phones this year and next?  So why is it a shock that they are selling an additional Symbian phone, it shouldn't be.

 

The C7 also supports the European 3G bands, Australia, Latin America and both AT&T and T-Mobile in the US plus the Canadian carriers.  I have yet to see an Android phone that support five 3G bands.  So the buyers of this phone can easily use it on the AT&T network in the future at 3G speeds.  Can an Android manufacturer say the same?

Ooof! A dead operating system on a network that is either going to get killed or crippled via this merger. Nokia is not doing much to get its presence up in the U.S. with this one, eh?

A couple strikes against it already.  But timing is everything. This weekend I finally left my old provider (ATT) and got a new phone, opting for  Sprint and the Evo Shift. When I tested the browser and pulled up LR, lo and behold there was the story about ATT buying T-Mobile and the followup about what it might mean for Sprint.  Guess I can be comforted in the fact that the new two year contract i signed will insulate me from any big changes for a while. JB
