Opens Latin American headquarters in São Paulo, Brazil

LONDON -- Band-X, the bandwidth exchange, has announced the official opening of thecompany's Latin American headquarters in São Paulo, Brazil. This is due tobe followed by the launch of the continent's first IP routed trading floorin the second quarter of this year.The company has appointed Felipe Moura, formerly of Vesper SA, to head upthe Brazilian operation and oversee the roll out of the Band-X tradingfloors in Latin America. Moura was part of the team that launched Vesper, aregional competitive carrier in Brazil, in April 1999.

"The Brazilian market, with its deregulated IP and bandwidth markets, isideally suited to the Band-X model," said Moura, executive vice-president,Band-X Brazil. "The arrival of competition has meant that buyers areincreasingly looking for a way to be able to identify the best supplier fortheir needs. Band-X offers them the knowledge to make an informed choice andthe flexibility to move between suppliers as and when they want."
