SAN DIEGO -- Continuous Computing(r), the only companydeploying uniquely architected systems comprised of telecom platformsand Trillium(r) software, today announced the availability ofFlexPacket(tm) RTM-COP50, a fail-to-wire Gigabit Ethernet copper bypassrear transition module for the company's flagship FlexPacket ATCA-PP50packet processing blade. The COP50 is the industry's only ATCA solutionthat is specifically optimized for in-line Deep Packet Inspection (DPI).Continuous Computing's combined solution now represents thebest-in-class ATCA solution for deploying in-line DPI applications.

Today, DPI is an increasingly important network technology deliveringcapabilities including traffic shaping, service and policy control andsecurity against Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS) orDistributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks. DPI systems are mosteffective when deployed in-line or as a "bump-in-the-wire" in thenetwork and must be protected against failure to ensure no networkoutage can occur due to the DPI platform.

By including the bypass capability inside the ATCA system, ContinuousComputing offers customers an alternative to the traditional approach ofexternal bypass solutions or fully redundant High Availability (HA)configurations. The COP50 allows customers to avoid the cost andcomplexity of managing extra devices in the network while still offeringprotection against network outages.
