AT&T Adds More 4G LTE

March 20, 2013 | Dan Jones |
AT&T Inc. has added three new 4G LTE markets Wednesday and expanded the faster data service in three more areas.

The new markets are:

  • Athens, Ohio
  • Sebring, Fla.
  • Dyersburg-Ripley, Tenn.

And these are the districts that get expanded service:

  • Hartford, Conn. expansion (Waterbury/Meriden)
  • Mobile, Ala. expansion (Baldwin County)
  • Toledo, Ohio expansion (Bowling Green)

"This brings our total LTE market count to 158," an AT&T spokesman says.

Why this matters
AT&T was recently found to offer the fastest LTE service in the U.S.

However, it still lags Verizon Wireless's 470-plus 4G LTE footprint, so its steady drumbeat of new launches helps its market perception and marketing clout.
