REDWOOD CITY, Calif. -- ASSIA, Inc., the leading provider of high-performance software tools for dynamic spectrum management (DSM) of digital subscriber line (DSL) and Wi-Fi networks, today announced the appointment of Jim Wheat as chief financial officer, replacing retiring CFO, Ray Ostby. Wheat brings to ASSIA more than 30 years of financial management expertise from global technology companies, including SGI (Silicon Graphics), Lam Research, Raychem Corporation, and Honeywell.
Prior to joining ASSIA, Wheat served as CFO of SGI for four years, and provided strategic financial and operational leadership in guiding the company through several acquisitions. As CFO of Rackable Systems he was part of the senior-management team that acquired SGI, which resulted in strengthening the company's business and financial models, and led to improvement in operating margins. Before joining Rackable Systems, Wheat served as vice president and corporate controller at Lam Research, an international semiconductor equipment manufacturing company with approximately $3 billion in revenues, where he was responsible for worldwide accounting, policy compliance, SEC reporting, and internal audit functions.
Wheat received a bachelor of business administration degree with distinction from the University of Michigan and an MBA from The Wharton School of The University of Pennsylvania. He holds an active CPA license in the State of California.
