iPhone for LTE TDD?

7:10 AM -- China Mobile Ltd. (NYSE: CHL) Chairman Wang Jianzhou has added to the momentum being built by the Long Term Evolution Time Division Duplex (LTE TDD) lobby by suggesting on the sidelines of a Chinese Communist Party meeting that Apple Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) boss Steve Jobs has shown interest in developing an iPhone model for the emerging next-generation mobile technology, reports Reuters.

Sounds familiar? That's because he fed the same line to international journalists during the World Economic Forum at Davos only a few weeks ago. (See Apple to Support China Mobile's LTE?.)

It's fair to assume that Apple might show real interest once there is evidence that LTE TDD is not just a niche, one-country technology along the lines of TD-SCDMA, China Mobile's 3G technology.
