The cable industry in North America is transitioning from a traditional set-top box/digital video recorder set-up (STB/DVR) to a Gateway/IP-client network architecture. Recognizing this macro dynamic early, Entropic designed its MoCA 2.0 solution offering the highest MAC throughput and most reliable whole-home connectivity backbone from the gateway to all client devices in the home. With backward interoperability to MoCA 1.0 and 1.1 devices, the MoCA 2.0 solution enables the advanced gateway to stream video and other digital entertainment from the gateway to each IP-client device.
"This is the first official product announcement of MoCA 2.0 designed into a headless gateway," said Al Servati, vice president of Marketing, Connectivity Group, Entropic. "Our MoCA 2.0 solution was selected for its maturity, stability and ability to enable ARRIS to deliver IP services from the home gateway to lower cost IP-Client set-top boxes -- all over wired (MoCA) and wireless home networks."
