AMS-IX showed a strong growth in 2012. From a new record of 500 connected IP networks in July to 540 networks exchanging traffic at AMS-IX in December. This number makes AMS-IX the world’s largest Internet exchange.
The total Internet traffic volume at AMS-IX grew 29 percent to 4.1 Exabyte (4.140.000 Terabyte) last year. This is equivalent to 6,900 large Mass Storage Systems. Moreover, the IPv6 traffic rate grew from 2 Gbps till 6 Gbps, making AMS-IX the world’s largest interconnection hub for IPv6 traffic.
