Will one small step for Chi-town portend one giant leap for Vyyo?

A Win for the Windy City

Vyyo Inc. (Nasdaq: VYYO) last month trumpeted its inclusion in a proposal by Singapore's top cable operator. (See Vyyo's Singapore Sling.)

From the original account:

Vyyo Inc. issued a press release...announcing that it has been included by StarHub , Singapore's leading cable operator, in an RFP to build that nation's next-generation National Broadband Network (NBN). Through the NBN initiative, Singapore wants to make 1 Gbit/s of bandwidth available to 95 percent of its 1 million homes and businesses by 2012.

Well, don't America look downright pokey by comparison?

While about as concrete as being asked by the city of Chicago to participate in its bid to host the 2016 Summer Olympics, Vyyo's selection by StarHub may have some interesting implications.

Well, it turns out that over the weekend Chicago was indeed selected by the U.S. Olympic Committee to serve as America's candidate for the 2016 Summer Games.

Now, the Windy City will have to face off against the likes of Madrid, Prague, Rome, Rio de Janeiro, and Tokyo. Tough competition, but Chi-town is one step closer.

Could the same be said for Vyyo in Singapore?
